Would you like to win a ticket to Monitoring Social Media 2010 in London on Monday November 22nd? With just three weeks to go until this event, I am giving away two tickets! See below on how to win one.

Monitoring social media can be difficult but is key to demonstrating success. There’s no one size fits all approach and it really depends on who you are reporting to and what your business objectives are. Having been inspired by Murray NewlandsSocial Media and Marketing 2010 Conference earlier this year, I am really looking forward to this event where I have been invited to attend as a guest blogger.  The format will be fully interactive with presentations, case studies, Q & A sessions and panel discussions covering best practice social media monitoring.

Some of the key questions that the event will cover include:

  • How to measure your social media activity and match the right metrics to the right objective
  • How to approach social media – the key questions that should be considered when deciding on success metrics
  • How to benchmark and demonstrate success through measurement
  • The free and paid social media monitoring tools available and how to go about selecting them
  • How brands can further use the data and insight extracted from the social media tools to make commercially informed decisions
  • How to use social media monitoring to successfully crowd-source product feedback

Speakers and case studies

Some of the speakers include Robin Grant, MD of We are social, Neville Hobson, early adopter, blogger and podcaster and Giles Palmer, Founder of BrandWatch. There will be an interesting array of case studies shared covering major brands such as Vodafone on its use of social media and how it uses measurement to justify its social activity.

How to win a ticket

Murray has generously agreed to give away two free tickets to the event. To win a ticket all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. I will be releasing a series of posts about the event which you can also comment on. For bonus points you could cover any of the following:

  • Your thoughts and or experience with social media measurement
  • Further topics that you would like to see covered in the event
  • Any questions you have on social media measurement – I will try to slip them in during the Q&A session
  • Of course, why you would like to attend!

I’ll announce the winner on my blog on Tuesday  16th November.

Return flights to London and a five star hotel are not included… maybe next time!

And if you don’t win

I will be covering this event on my blog. You’ll catch me live tweeting with hashtag #MSM10, you can also tweet me on @SelenaChanLive. The event will be held at the Cavendish Conference Centre in London and there here are of course early bird tickets.

Hope to see you there and I look forward to having a chat with you!

I have read about hootesuite and also signed up looking to use it to manage my social networking and analysis. With many portals of communication I often wonder how to measure success from social media. Where is the link between social network sites and gaining real customers? Is there really a way of measuring potential business or even actual customer conversion rates? I’m still sceptical about it… Which is why I ask…

I’m always curious how the question of measurement is being answered. I’d love to see these folks tackle it. Throw my name in the hat, please!

    Hi Selena,

I’m really looking forward to this event, some excellent speakers confirmed. I’m particularly looking forward to hearing Charlie Osmond’s take on the importance of influencers.

That’s an area of particular interest to us here, and I’m keen to hear the thoughts of Charlie and the other key speakers on the ways different measuring tools identify influencers. It’s important for people within social media to take a marketing perspective on the medium, and both influencers and sentiment analysis are going to take even more prominence in the future.

If i were to pick an area I’d like to see covered in more depth it would be the development and discrepancies within sentiment analysis. It’s an area of measurement that still has some way to go and I’ll be interested to hear the guys from Vodafone talk about how they currently broach this subject.

Alongside this I’m also interested to hear the speakers explain how they currently turn their hard work within social media into tangible ROI, which is ultimately everyone’s goal in any means of business.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the 22nd.

ROI and social are becoming close friends and it seems that traditional ways can help measuring it, like Google analytics showing conversions. A question would be, who will be the first to build a significant measurement tool? Could it be a way for Google to enter social space? Thanks’
